The Swiss, or at least the Swiss-French, are very good at breakfast. Can you imagine eating Escargots for breakfast? I can. If it means brown cinnamon dough covered in creamy hazelnut paste and then wound into a bun that beats any Cinnabun you've ever tasted. I am partial to the Tart aux Noisettes (pictured on left), because if I'm going to be eating sugary goodness for breakfast, might as well go all out and glaze the top of it. Some might prefer the Apple Tarts, (pictured on the right) which are like sugary hot pockets with an apple cinnamon filling. These are chunks of real apples, not something processed in a plant. These pastries were made, THIS MORNING, in the basement of the bakery. I watched. As a side note, after writing this post I realize that I'm no longer going to put up with any Swiss people complaining to me that Americans are disgusting for eating a short stack of pancakes at breakfast. I don't know what it is they have against pancakes, and particularly the syrup, (although they have a point because the pancakes come with an egg, sausage links, hash browns and six choices of syrup), when they're eating this kind of thing for breakfast.

Hi Jessica, thanks for stopping by my blog and glad you're having fun checking out some links. (By the way, Expat Traveller in my sidebar has a much better list of Swiss bloggers than I do!)
My book group is through the American Women's Club of Bern; I knew at least one woman in our club (moved back to the States a few years ago) from Neuchatel; it might be the closest AWC to you. We have several Biel members and at least one from La Nouville and Murten. Bern also has an English-speakers club but I don't know what sort of groups they have.
I was reluctant to join the American Women's Club and didn't for my first two years here, but at some point I just really wanted things like a book club in English or an English speaking play group or just a bunch of people who totally get it that you miss Kraft Mac and Cheese (which you never ate in the US) even though Alpenmacaroni is so much better. If you google American Women's Club Switzerland some different options will pop up for you. Hope you find something and I'm interested in checking out the rest of your blog!
